Project:  We Like The Chaos

When our friend — who has three young girls, five cats, and three dogs — asked us to renovate her home, we knew it would be challenging, but we were up for the task. We were initially concerned about renovating a whole house while their large family was still living there, but our friend responded to our concern with, "We like the chaos."

 

We approached the project in phases: Phase 1 - common spaces; Phase 2 - bedrooms and bathrooms; Phase 3 - a backyard studio shed for the husband's office, which also doubles as a guest suite with a Murphy bed. Every finish, material, and piece of furniture was selected and designed with durability in mind — to withstand wear and tear against an army of kids and animals.​ 

 

The family was incredibly adaptable, even turning their garage into a temporary kitchen during phase 1 and finding numerous ways to accommodate the construction. All the effort was well worth it as they now have the most beautiful (and durable!) house in the neighborhood.
